Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome (aka Irlen Syndrome) is a perceptual processing problem that affects 12 – 14% of the population. Individuals with SSS perceive visual information differently.
These individuals find that their ability to read and do visually-intensive activities can be negatively impacted by lighting, contrast, glare, amount of print on a page, print size, and the demand for continuous performance and comprehension.
Screening will determine whether an individual is likely to have SSS and will result in specific recommendations and accommodations in order to facilitate continued success.
