Gifted and Talented Abilities

The National Association for Gifted Children defines gifted individuals as those,

“… who give evidence of high achievement capability in areas such as intellectual, creative, artistic, or leadership capacity, and who need services and activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop those capabilities”– Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Federal Definition
“My initial contact, with Stephanie, was to schedule an I.Q. test for my son. Not only was she able to administer the I.Q. test, she and Jorge Rosales, at Coachella Valley Lighthouse, have created an oasis of support and nurturing outside school where my son can receive help.”

  • Identification through assessment of ability
  • Program provided by GATE credentialed teacher(s)
  • Individualized enrichment program
  • Programs implemented with curriculum designed for GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) identified individuals
  • Parent consultations and resources
  • Student support

Gifted individuals thrive on academic instruction that allows them to explore topics more in depth or from a different perspective than is typical. If their academic needs are not met within the classroom, the results can be detrimental to more than just their report card.
