It’s essential to recognize learning progress, especially when we see difficulties like processing and retaining information. In order to understand the learning, behavior and development of an individual, diagnostic investigation becomes a priority. Psychological-educational assessments fulfill this process by showing insights on how the brain works.

WHAT IS A PSYCHOLOGICAL-EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

In short, these accurate tests gauge academic performance with detailed attention to concerns with schooling. Each assessment involves exercises with special hands-on activities to test and study individual performance. After hours of direct assessments, observations, interviews, review of records, and analysis of the data collected, the assessment is complete.

The end result is a clearly written report on strengths, weaknesses and how best to support learning needs.

TWO TYPES OF TESTING:

• Psychological assessments measure potential learning strengths and clarifies the nature of the processing deficit. This testing is not intended to measure what a student has been or will be learning.



• Educational assessments give an in-depth analysis on what has been learned in individual subjects: mathematics, reading, spelling, writing and other academic areas.

A psychological-educational assessment can determine if an individual has one or more of the following areas of concern by showing how the disability significantly impacts an individual.
